We are so excited to celebrate with you! Since our ceremony begins at 4:30 PM, you have the morning and early afternoon to enjoy the beauty of Tuscany. To help you plan your time, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite local spots—all within a short drive of the villa.
IMPORTANT :  June 2nd is a national holiday in Italy, so be sure to check if sights are open before you go. Have fun exploring! 

⛲ The Relaxed Local Choice: Villa Reale di Marlia

  • Distance: 5-minute drive.
  • The Vibe: Stroll through 16 hectares of legendary baroque gardens, a water theater, and the former home of Napoleon’s sister. It is quiet, refined, and very close to our venue.
  • Best for: Those who want beauty without the crowds.

🏰 The Classic Lucca Experience: The Medieval Walls

  • Distance: 20-minute drive.
  • The Vibe: Lucca is famous for its massive Renaissance walls. We recommend renting a bike or walking the tree-lined path atop the walls for a 4 km loop around the city. Don't miss a coffee at Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, a square built on a Roman arena.
  • Best for: First-time visitors and active explorers.

🍷 Tuscan Flavors: Wine & Cheese

  • Vineyards (Montecarlo): Visit the hilltop village of Montecarlo (25 mins away). Tenuta del Buonamico offers excellent tastings and tours of their modern cellars.
  • Artisanal Cheese (Porcari): For a quick, authentic stop, Caseificio Artlatte (15 mins away) produces fresh local pecorino. It’s a great spot to sample and buy local snacks.
  • Best for: Foodies and those looking for a scenic drive.

🏛️ The Iconic Quick Trip: The Leaning Tower of Pisa

  • Distance: 45-minute drive.
  • The Vibe: If you must see the Leaning Tower, it is doable! The "Square of Miracles" is compact and can be seen in about an hour.
  • A Fair Warning: Traffic between Lucca and Pisa can be unpredictable. If you choose this option, we recommend heading out early and aiming to be back at your accommodation by 2:30 PM to refresh for the ceremony.
  • Best for: Bucket-list checkers.


A Note on Timing:  Please be sure to allow enough time to return to Villa Daniela Grossi and get ready for the ceremony. We can't wait to see you there!
